Using a smart thermostat is one of the best ways to cut your monthly energy costs, and this Amazon is offering the Nest Thermostat for just $100 right now, down from its regular $130 MSRP.
With a new top-of-the-line learning model just released and available for a staggering $280, snatching this $100 version from Amazon is a total bargain. We reviewed the Nest thermostat and loved how easy it was to install, as well as its attractive industrial design.
Of course, this is a model that’s better suited for simpler HVAC systems–its compatible with single-stage furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps, and not much else–and there’s no way for it to learn your comings and goings so as to program itself, but that’s a bit of an overrated feature anyway.
That doesn’t mean this thermostat isn’t smart. Quite the opposite, in fact. “While this new model won’t program itself, it will use its onboard motion and humidity sensors as well as geofencing (based on your smartphone’s location and its dual-band Wi-Fi adapter) to suggest presets for when you’re home, home sleeping, and away,” our very own Jason D’Aprile explains.
“If everyone with a smartphone leaves the house, but your kids (or anyone else without a smartphone) stay, the occupancy sensor will continue to keep your home comfortable—provided someone walks past the thermostat every once in a while,” the review reads.
The Nest Thermostat is compatible with most smart home ecosystems. Once you set it up, you just need the Google Home app to create schedules that fit your daily life. Otherwise, go ahead and order the Google Nest Thermostat for $100 at Amazon before the deal expires.
