Roku unveiled its Black Friday-only LE streaming player earlier this month, and right on cue, it’s on sale at Walmart for a rock-bottom $15. But if you want this bare-bones 1080p streamer, you’d better grab it before the day is out.
As a quick recap, the Roku LE is about as basic as it gets—we’re talking just 1080p video quality, and it lacks many of the high-end features you can expect from Roku’s pricier streamers, such as the Dolby Vision-enabled Streaming Stick 4K (which normally sells for $50) or the 4K HDR resolution of the Roku Express 4K+ (typically $40).
But let’s focus on what the Roku LE does have, including the sleek, intuitive Roku streaming interface, complete with premium and live streaming apps from Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, and Amazon Prime Video. You also get The Roku Channel, which boasts scores of free, ad-supported channels, as well as Roku Originals starring the likes of Kevin Hart, Anna Kendrick, Liam Hemsworth, Titus Burgess, Jennifer Lopez, and Keifer Sutherland. And yes, there’s a Roku remote and an HDMI cable in the box.
All in all, the Roku LE is the perfect stocking stuffer for streaming newcomers. But this Walmart exclusive will only be around while supplies last, so if you want one, you’d better get clicking.
