Swann Security, the California-based manufacturer known for its wide range of security cameras, is touting a series of new products and upgrades at CES 2024, including a first for the company: a pocketable personal security alarm that you can wear around your neck or hold in your hand.
Both the ActiveResponse Personal Safety Alarm and another new Swann product, the AI-powered HomeShield AI Security Concierge, have been recognized as CES Innovation Award Honorees in the Smart Home category.
Swann ActiveResponse Personal Alarm
The Swann ActiveResponse Personal Alarm represents a new kind of product for Swann, marking the company’s first step into the personal safety device market.

The Swann ActiveResponse Personal Alarm can be worn as a necklace, attached to a keyring or bag, or carried in your hand.

The Personal Alarm is designed for on-the-go use. If you’re lost or feeling threatened, just pull the device’s pin to emit a 110-decibel siren.
A second option is to push the device’s button; doing so will send alerts to up to five personal contacts and/or emergency services, complete with location details provided by your Bluetooth-connected phone.
The Swann ActiveResponse Personal Alarm can be worn as a necklace, attached to a keyring or bag, or carried in your hand, pocket, or bag. A carabiner and a lanyard are included with the alarm.
Swann promises a “sturdy” design for the ActiveReponse Personal Alarm, but a Swann rep said that the device lacked an IP rating.
The alarm runs on a single (and replaceable) CR1 lithium battery, which should yield about 12 months of use, the spokesperson confirmed.
Swann Security HomeShield
The Swann Security HomeShield is an AI-driven, security-focused voice assistant that works with Swann video doorbells, cameras, and other devices.
HomeShield can use natural language to automatically respond to visitors on your behalf and can proactively implement other deterrents without any active input from the owner.

For the CES award submission, HomeShield was paired with the SwannBuddy4K Video Doorbell to display how the AI naturally interacts with humans. The service can accept deliveries, screen unfamiliar visitors, and welcome friends and family, giving visitors the impression there is a real person with an active presence on the other side of the door.
In addition to the ActiveResponse Personal Safety Alarm, Swann showcased its MaxRanger 4K Solar Wireless Camera, SwannBuddy4K wireless video doorbell, Xtreem4K wireless spotlight camera, Pan & Tilt 4K wireless security camera, and AllSecure4K wireless security kit.
All of Swann’s new products are expected to be available in 2024.
