Lytro upgraded its light-field cameras just in time for the innovative equipment’s appearance at Target, Best Buy, and Amazon.
The company Tuesday announced new manual controls, colors, and accessories for its rectangular camera, which lets photographers set the focus of their photos after shooting.
Lytro’s new controls include shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, neutral density filter, and auto exposure lock. The maximum shutter speed is eight seconds with a minimum of 1/250 second.
New cameras also will have an ISO range of 80 to 3200 to take photos in low-level and brightly lit environments. The neutral density filter helps photogs capture and adjust the level of brightness in their photos.
The new controls address a few critiques of the camera, primarily that it’s a bit too simplistic for its price points of $300 (for 8GB) and $500 (for 32GB).
Lytro photographer director Eric Cheng said in a statement that the controls were introduced in response to consumer feedback and add “flexibility as they push the boundaries of the light field.”

Lytro also announced new choices of camera colors: green and pink, both $400. The pink camera is available only on Target.com. New accessories include a camera case for $60 and sleeve for $30.
