Kara Water, a company recognized with the 2023 CES Best Innovation Award for its Kara Pure water cooler, has announced the Kara Pod, the latest product in its line of air-to-water devices.
The Kara Pod is a coffee maker that collects water vapor from the air and produces purified, mineral-rich, and alkaline water. Just insert a coffee pod, and get ready for a steaming cup of joe.
The unit’s water tank holds just over three liters, the equivalent of seven bottles of water. That’s seven plastic containers a household can avoid using each day, an advantage that’s even more compelling with news about the possible dangers of nanoplastics shed by plastic water bottles.
The Kara Pod’s touch screen lets you choose from six-, eight-, or 12-ounce pour sizes, and besides coffee, the unit can dispense water at room temperature or hot water.

The Kara Pod can dispense coffee, hot water, or room-temperature water in six-, eight-, and 12-ounce sizes.

Kara Water was founded by Cody Soodeen, who lived through a childhood with limited access to safe drinking water.
The Kara technology is inspired by the Stenocara Gracilipes, a Namibian desert beetle that survives the arid environment by collecting water vapor from the air and drinking it from its own back.
