Hisense is bringing the specs with its 2024 UX-series lineup. If local dimming zones and peak brightness were all there were to TVs, the company could make a case for ruling the roost. If our past experience holds, Hisense TVs will continue to offer fantastic bang for the buck.
ULED UX TVs
Hisense talked up three mini-LED, quantum-dot, UX models for CES. The big daddy 110UX (110-inch) can deliver 95 percent of the BT.2020 (aka rec.2020) color palette, with peak brightness up to a staggering 10,000 nits from 40,000 backlight zones. Yes, 40,000. Not quite up to TCL’s latest QM891 behemoth, but staggering nonetheless.

Compared to the Hisense 110UX, the 2024 98UX might seem an amateur. But placed alongside most TVs, it’s pure pro with 5,000 nits peak brightness (twice last year’s model) and 10,000 local dimming zones. The refresh rate has jumped from 120Hz to 144Hz, which will make gamers happy.
Hisense touts the 75-inch 75UX as the company’s thinnest mini-LED TV ever: a mere 14mm. That’s just over one half of an inch. Yowser. Hisense didn’t quote nits for this model, but with quantum dots, a mini-LED backlight, and 5,000 local dimming zones, I’m guessing 5,000 nits–same as the 98UX.
Other UX-series features include ambient light adjustment and built-in 4.2.2-channel audio. Hisense is also debuting Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, which helps you pair wireless speakers with the TV’s internal sound system, so you can set the whole deal up for an optimal surround experience.

Plain ULED
Hisense’s more affordable U6-, U7-, and U8 Series will also get their share of upgrades. Hisense hasn’t provided detailed specs on each model yet, but one of the highlights is up to 3,000 nits peak brightness–a level only top-tier sets could deliver just a couple of years ago. Screen sizes will range from 55- to 85 inches, with native (i.e., hardware) refresh rates up to 144Hz.
Keeping in mind that pricier models (indicated by higher model numbers) get more tech and deliver better specs, Hisense TVs will feature Dolby Vision HDR, IMAX Enhanced, and Filmmaker Modes as well as Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and ATSC 3.0 (NextGen TV) tuners. Gaming features include Dolby Gaming, G-Sync compatibility, Freesync Premium Pro, and Game Mode Pro.
In the Hisense U7- and U8 series, those features come courtesy of Hisense’s Hi-View Engine PRO chipset. It’s of course, “AI,” with processing features that include Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro, face detection, as well as HDR and detail enhancement.
Probably the biggest news for Hisense’s ULED lines, pun intended, is the 100-inch model U76N, a 4K UHD set packing quantum dots along with all the other features I’ve already mentioned. It also seems Hisense has settled on Google TV as its operating system of choice in 2024. The company made no mention of either Roku or Fire TV at today’s press conference.
