Amazon’s latest Echo Dot gets early Prime Day price cut to $23, best ever

Surprise! A week away from October Prime Day (or as Amazon calls it, Prime Big Deal Days), the tiny fifth-gen Echo Dot just went down to its best price, dropping to $23, a whopping 54% discount from its $50 MSRP. We haven’t seen this particular smart speaker so affordable since Black Friday last year.

While we didn’t review this exact model, we did the fifth-gen Echo Dot Kids, which has pretty much the same hardware. We gave that kid-friendly Dot a near-perfect score, along with our Editors’ Choice award.

The latest Echo Dot delivers a great audio experience, and it can get surprisingly loud for a speaker of its size. The music is clear, and the bass is deep, everything you could wish from a speaker in this price range.

Of course, the Echo Dot doesn’t just excel at music. This diminutive speaker also makes for an easy way to access Alexa and everything it has to offer, from controlling smart home devices and reading weather reports to setting up reminders and adding items to your shopping list.

For a mere $23, you can get yourself an Amazon Echo Dot 5th gen–and at this price, you can probably put one in every room.
